Rebus stories
Rebus stories facilitate reading comprehension and motivate beginner readers. In the field of non-native language, rebuses support the process of understanding each other and the ability to speak and write. Imagine how great it is, if a typeface made for first readers, has got its variant that – as if by magic – transforms written text into rebuses. Hocus-pocus!
The principle works via Open Type feature for about 1000 nouns being replaced by more than 200 icons at the moment. It works for German and English for now. Further terms and languages are in the works.
Of course, the technology behind the font is also realizable with different images. We’re looking forward to your feedback and contribution.

Wort-Bild-Geschichten
Wort-Bild-Geschichten fördern das Leseverständnis und motivieren Anfänger zum Lesen. Auch im Bereich von nicht-muttersprachlichem Sprach- und Schrifterwerb unterstützen sie den Lern- und Verständigungsprozess. Wie toll ist es doch, wenn eine Schriftart, die speziell auf die Bedürfnisse von Leselernenden abgestimmt ist, zusätzlich in einer Variante existiert, die geschriebenen Text automatisch und wie von Zauberhand in Wort-Bild-Geschichten umwandelt. Hokuspokus!
Dieses Prinzip funktioniert via Open Type Feature momentan für ungefähr 1000 Hauptwörter, die in mehr als 200 Icons übersetzt werden. Dies funktioniert für Deutsch und Englisch. Weitere Begriffe und Sprachen sind in Planung.
Selbstverständlich ist die Technologie dahinter als solches auch mit anderen Bildgestaltungen umsetzbar. Wir freuen uns auf Ihre Rückmeldung und Ihren Beitrag.
